Female Preacher
Female Preacher is the debut, and to date the only album recorded by Tonya Davis, a US rapper better known as Overweight Pooch, which was released in 1991 on A&M Records. Though, the record indicated that Pooch had some potential, her album didn't go far commercially.
Three songs in total were issued on single. The first title, "Hip House Party", was initially promoted on Jam Harder: The A&M Underground Dance Compilation in 1990[3] that scored at number sixty-three on the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (respectively at #131 in the Top 200 Bilboard Albums).[4] "Ace a Spade", the second track in addition retitled by the label as "Ace Is a Spade", contained samples of "New Day" and the James Brown's hit "Soul Power"[5] (number #3 in the US R&B in 1971).[6] The final single from the set, "I Like It", featuring background vocals by CeCe Peniston who also contributed to another two tracks ("Kickin' Da Blues" and "Female Preacher", which she also co-wrote), reached number sixteen in the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Music Club Play chart,[7] and peaked at number fifty-eight on the UK Singles Chart[8] in January 1992.
